Do not take out gear wheels for front final drive. Secure gear wheels to prevent from dropping out.

If the gear wheels are taken out, they must be reinstalled with the markings on the gears facing outward (away from transmission).

Installing
Install in reverse order but note following:

Before installing, ensure that dowel sleeve -A- is correctly located.

Install gasket. 

-

Install housing cover for front final drive. 

Tightening sequence:

Stage 1: tighten bolts -1-, -2- and -3- hand-tight.

Stage 2: tighten bolts -1- to -14- to the torque specified and in the sequence indicated.

Install left and right-hand transmission brackets. 

-

Fill with ATF and check ATF level.

Special tools and equipment required

VAG 1331 Torque wrench

Removing
-

Raise vehicle.

-

Remove wheel.
