Limit stop pins on both sides and the mounting for the spring have been discontinued (arrows).

Removing

Carefully pry cover off center console.

Vehicles to 10/2000 

-

Unscrew gear selector lever knob with cover.

Vehicles from 11/2000 

-

Destroy clip (arrow) and pull gear selector lever knob off with cover.

Unbolt gear selector lever housing cover (arrows -A-).

-

Remove circlip (arrow -B-) while carefully relieving tension on spring.

-

Take off spacer bushing and spring.

-

Remove circlip (arrow -C-).

-

Pull ball stop with ball guide and rubber rings out in upward direction.

-

Remove ball stop from gear selector lever while (if part of original equipment) carefully relieving tension on spring and bushing.
