ATF Level, Checking 

Note:  Vehicle with 8-cylinder engines have an additional ATF cooler.  An additional ATF check has to be carried out on these vehicles.  See:

Conditions for performing check 
-

All electrical consumers and air conditioner must be switched off.

-

Transmission is not in emergency running mode, ATF temperature is not above approx. 30°C  

-

Vehicle level

-

Selector lever at "P", leave engine running at idle

ATF level is affected by ATF temperature.
Checking ATF level at too low ATF temperature leads to overfilling.
