MIL Illuminated, DTC 17125, P0741 Stored In Transmission Fault Memory-No Driveability Concern

Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) Illuminated, DTC P0741 17125 Clutch for torque converter bridging, no power transfer stored in fault memory, no
driveablity concern.

Technical Background

May be caused by torque converter internal oil seal failure (no external leaks).

Production Solution

Optimized shaft seal ring in the torque converter as of transmission serial numbers listed in table below

Service

Identify the transmission and record serial number on 5 and 6 speed Transmission Concern Form, see Repair Manual 5 Spd. Automatic Transmission 01
L, 01V General, Technical Data, Transmission identification.

NOTE:  

The following tests must be performed and recorded before repairs.

Engine running and at operating temperature.

Check transmission fluid level, and Only if necessary, adjust per Repair Manual Group 37 - Automatic Transmission - Controls, Housing, ATF
level, checking and topping off.

Connect the VAS 5051 or 5052 diagnostic tool.

-

From VAS 5051 VAS 5052 Start-up screen, select "Vehicle self diagnosis".

-

Select Diagnosis function "02-Gearbox electronics".
