Fuel Injectors, Removing and Installing
FUEL INJECTORS, REMOVING AND INSTALLING
NOTE: Faulty injectors can cause the following malfunctions:

Misfiring
-
Knocking in one or more cylinders
-
Engine over-heating
-
Loss of power
-
Excessive black exhaust smoke
-
Higher fuel consumption
-
Excessive blue smoke when starting from cold
CAUTION! Fire hazard. Do NOT smoke or have anything in the area that can ignite Diesel fuel!
Faulty Injectors can be located by loosening the high pressure connector nut on each injector in sequence with the engine running at a high idle speed. If
engine speed remains constant after loosening, it indicates a faulty injector.
Removing

Remove injection lines using slotted ring wrench 3035.
NOTE: Always remove the fuel line cluster as an assembly. Do not alter the shape or routing of the fuel lines.

Remove the fuel injectors using 27 mm socket.
Installing
NOTE: Always replace heat shield between cylinder head and injectors.
Installed position of fuel injector heat shield:
Arrow points toward the cylinder head.
Tightening torques:
Injection lines = 25 Nm (18 ft lb)
Injectors = 70 Nm (52 ft lb)
