Turn crankshaft to TDC cyl. 1.

Vehicles with Automatic transmission 

-

Turn crankshaft to TDC cyl. 1

-

Lock camshaft using setting bar,

-

Loosen tensioner.

-

Remove toothed belt.

-

Loosen camshaft sprocket mounting bolt 1/2 turn.

-

Release camshaft sprocket from camshaft taper by carefully tapping with a hammer

^

using a drift through rear toothed belt guard opening

-

Remove camshaft sprocket.

-

First remove bearing caps 5, 1 and 3, then loosen bearing caps 2 and 4 alternately and diagonally.

Installing 

Notes:  
^

When installing camshaft; ensure that cylinder 7 cam lobes point upwards.

^

When installing bearing caps note the offset.

^

Before installing the camshaft; trial fit the bearing caps to determine proper position.

-

Oil camshaft contact surfaces.

-

Tighten bearing caps 2 and 4 alternately and diagonally.
