Throttle Position Sensor: Adjustments

With Sensor Removed:

Work sequence
Cable cam, adjusting

-

The cable cam must be set such that in the rest position the extended edge of the wrench surface passes the center of the hole -arrow-.

-

Attach Throttle Position sensor with the pre-assembled cable cam to mounting block.

-

Install mounting bracket.

-

Reconnect 6-pin harness connector.

Fine Adjustment With Sensor Installed:

-

Vehicles with Manual transmission turn accelerator pedal stop to position where "HS" is visible.

Vehicles with automatic transmission 

Refer to "Accelerator Mechanism" at "Fuel Delivery and Air Induction", Service and Repair. See: Service and Repair

Depress accelerator pedal by hand until accelerator pedal lies against accelerator pedal stop.

-

Set sensor operating rod, using adjustment screw so the kickdown switch pressure point is just reached when accelerator pedal is on accelerator
pedal stop.

If accelerator pedal stop is reached without feeling pressure point:

-

Turn adjustment screw anti-clockwise until pressure point is reached.

If pressure point is reached before reaching accelerator stop:

-

Turn operating rod adjustment screw clockwise until the accelerator pedal reaches its stop without resistance.

Vehicles with automatic transmission

-

Turn accelerator pedal stop 180°, so inscription "AG" is visible

After adjusting sensor, check Throttle Position sensor using VAG 1551/1552 Scan Tool.
