01N Transmission

Replacement

Removing Transmission Control Module (TCM) -J217-

-

Loosen carpet and fold up.

-

Unclip control module from box (arrows)

-

Release multi-pin connector, then pull connector off control module.

Installing Transmission Control Module -J217-

-

Push multi-pin connector onto control module -J217- pins -1-, then lock multi-pin connector -2-.

How to Return TCM to Basic Setting

The basic setting should be initiated after performing the following repairs:

-

Replacing engine

-

Replacing engine control module

-

Replacing throttle valve

-

Adjusting throttle valve (setting idling speed).

-

Replacing throttle position sensor -G69-

-

Altering throttle position sensor -G69- setting, e.g. when adjusting closed throttle position switch (engine)

Replacing transmission control module -J217-

-

Connect Scan Tool VAG 1551 and enter address word "02 transmission electronics" and advance until "Select function XX" appears in the
display.

Select function XX

Press buttons -0- and -4- to select "Initiating basic setting" function 04.

NOTE:   The accelerator pedal must remain in the closed throttle position.
