Brake Master Cylinder: Service and Repair
Removing and Installing
Brake master cylinder, removing and installing
Special tools required
Removing
-
Layout lint free cloths around plenum chamber, engine and transmission.

Position bleeder hose and bottle on left front brake caliper bleeder screw and open bleeder screw.

Operate brake pedal until brake fluid has been lowered below supply hose.

Close left front bleeder screw.
-
Remove clutch master cylinder supply hose -1- and plug.
-
Remove connector from float level sender -2-.
-
Disconnect brake lines -1- on brake master cylinder. Seal pipes and threaded holes with plugs from repair kit Part No. 1 H0 698 311 A.

Remove brake master cylinder nuts -2-.

Carefully remove brake master cylinder from power booster.
Installing

Reassemble in reverse sequence
Observe the following when installing:

Ensure brake master cylinder push rod is located correctly when mating to power booster.

To assist in easing reassembly, apply slight brake pedal pressure to move push rod toward brake master cylinder.

After installing, bleed brakes. Refer to Brake system (with and without ABS), bleeding.
