Selector mechanism, adjusting 

Note:  Before adjusting the selector mechanism check the following:

Selector mechanism, including all operating and relay elements, must be in perfect working condition.

The selector mechanism must operate smoothly

^

The transmission, clutch and clutch operating mechanisms must be in perfect working condition.

^

The transmission must be in the "Neutral" positron.

Carefully pry cover off center console.

Remove shift knob with cover.

Remove nuts and remove rubber cover for gear lever housing.

-

Measure distance between body and selector mechanism.

-

Distance -a- must be 37 mm (1.46 inch).

If distance is not as shown adjust dimension -a- as follows:

Loosen push rod bolt (arrow).

Note:  The push rod/selector mechanism connection must move freely.

Set to dimension -a- by moving selector mechanism.

-

Tighten push rod bolt (arrow).

-

Loosen ball housing nuts (arrow -A- and arrow -B-).

-

Set ball housing to horizontal position.

-

Tighten ball housing nuts.
