Coolant FC (Fan Control) Control Module, Checking
NOTE: Coolant Fan Control (FC) Control Module -J293- and Coolant Fan -V7- are one component and cannot be replaced individually.
Recommended special tools and equipment

V.A.G1526 multimeter or V.A.G1715 multimeter

V.A.G1594 connector test kit

Wiring diagram
Test requirements

Corresponding main fuses on E-box in engine compartment, left side, for Coolant Fan Control (FC) Control Module -J293- must be OK
NOTE: Fuses on this fuse holder are labelled "SA" in the wiring diagram.

Motronic Engine Control Module (ECM) Power Supply Relay -J271- (relay position R4) must be OK, check.

Battery voltage must be at least 11.5 Volts.

All electrical consumers such as, lights and rear window defroster must be switched off.

Ground (GND) connections between engine and chassis must be OK.

Coolant Fan -V7- moves easily and is not blocked by a foreign body.

Ignition switched off.
