Control Module: Service and Repair
Transmission Control Module J217, Replacing
‹› To achieve optimal anti-theft protection for the vehicle, an anti-theft immobilizer was installed. The anti-theft immobilizer is a system for
enabling/locking the Transmission Control Module (TCM) (J217).
Procedure
Check the identification of the previous Transmission Control Module (TCM) (J217) as follows:

Connect the scan tool.

Switch the ignition on.

Select "Diagnostic mode 9 - Vehicle Information."

Select the"Calibration identification".
-
The Transmission Control Module (TCM) (J217) identification will be displayed.
-
End diagnosis and switch the ignition off.
Removal
-
Remove the left front wheel housing liner.
-
Disconnect the Transmission Control Module (TCM) (J217) electrical harness connector.

Remove the Transmission Control Module (TCM) (J217). - arrow -
Installation

Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal. note the following:

Check the identification of the new Transmission Control Module (TCM) (J217) to ensure it matches the old Transmission Control Module
(TCM) (J217).

Code the Transmission Control Module (TCM) (J217).

Erase the DTC memory. Refer to => [ Diagnostic Mode 04 - Erase DTC Memory ] See: Computers and Control Systems/Testing and
Inspection/Scan Tool Testing and Procedures/Diagnostic Modes 01 - 09/Diagnostic Mode 04 - Erase DTC Memory.

Perform a road test to verify repair.
If the DTC does not return:
