Condition
Update Programming, Electromechanical Parking Brake (EPB), to Prevent False DTCs
After engine start, the warning light for the EPB illuminates.
The fault may also occur during an attempt to retract rear caliper pistons during new brake pad installation.
One or more of the fault codes may be stored in the EPB control module:
Note:
DO NOT diagnose or replace EPB system components before performing the update function as explained in this bulletin.
Technical Background
EPB control module responds too sensitively to low voltage conditions.
EPB control module Part No. 3C0907801 suffix B and E are affected.
Production Solution
Improved software installed with less sensitivity to low voltage.
Service
PROCEDURE:
The following items must be observed during and after the update - programming:
1.
VAS 5051/5052 Minimum Base CD Version 10.00.00 and Brand CD
V.10.76.00.
2.
Parking brake must be released.
3.
The parking brake update is performed in several stages.
4.
During the first stage, the update may fail. Restart the procedure and it will begin programming.
