Disconnect upper A/C line
-
Disconnect fan motor harness connector
-
Disconnect and remove radiator fan shroud assembly
Note:
It may be necessary to slightly bend discharge hose bracket and right side shroud bracket.
-
Place radiator fan assembly on workbench
-
Push out retaining ring lock pins
-
Remove retaining ring
-
Remove fan motor with blade
Note:
Mark or observe installation position of motor before removal, to ensure correct reinstallation.
CONTINUE RECALL WORK BY INSTALLING THE FOLLOWING NEW COMPONENTS:

Fan Motor/Fan Blade

Fan Belt
1H0 119 137A
^
Seal
1H0 820 749B
CONTINUE RECALL WORK AND:
-
Discard old parts (destroy)
-
Reinstall components in reverse order - use new seal for air condition line
-
Recharge A/C
-
Reconnect battery and remove power saver
-
Check coolant level
-
Start engine and warm up to a point where the cooling fan cycles
-
Reset basic settings (VAG 1551)
-
Check cooling and A/C operation

This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act.
Volkswagen has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in some 1993-95 model Volkswagen vehicles equipped with VR6
engines. Our records show that your Volkswagen is one of the vehicles affected by this action.
Defect Description
Volkswagen has found that under extreme operating conditions the radiator fan could fail. If the vehicle is continued to be operated after the radiator fan
has failed, the engine could overheat and eventually stall with the possibility of causing an accident.
