Intake Air Temperature Sensor: Testing and Inspection
Intake air temperature (IAT) sensor, checking
CHECKING INTAKE AIR TEMPERATURE SENSOR

Remove Intake Air Temperature (IAT) Sensor (G72) and reconnect to connector.

Plug threaded hole left by removing sensor.
-
Connect VAG 1551 Scan Tool (ST) and enter address word 01 for "Engine Electronics" (select functions with engine idling).

Press buttons -0- and -8- to select the "Read Measuring Value Block" function.

Press -Q- button to confirm input.

Press buttons -0- and -3- to enter display group 03.

Read Intake Air Temperature in display field 4.

Specification: approx. ambient temperature.

Spray Intake Air Temperature Sensor with commercially available chilling agent.

Read Intake Air Temperature in display field 4.
NOTE: Temperature value must decrease uniformly and without interruption.

Press --> button.
-
Press buttons -0- and -6- to select the "End Output" function.

Press -Q- button to confirm input.

If the temperature value does not change as specified:
-
Carry out electrical testing, test step 26
-
If necessary, replace Intake Air Temperature Sensor.
