If the ATF level is checked, the seal -arrow- on the ATF level plug must always be replaced.

ATF LEVEL, CHECKING
Conditions for performing check:

Transmission not in emergency running mode, ATF temperature not above approx. 30°C (86°F)

Vehicle level
^
Selector lever at "P"

Secure reservoir of ATF filling system VAG 1924, or equivalent, to vehicle.

Connect Scan Tool VAG 1551 and enter address word "02 Transmission electronics" and advance until "Select function XX" indicated on display
--> Automatic Transmission Repair Manual, Repair Group 01.

Start engine.

Raise vehicle.
