Wheel hub with compressed splines 

(vehicles with Plus suspension)

The wheel hub has been modified so that the peaks of the splines -arrow- are compressed slightly. Backlash between the splines of the outer constant
velocity joint and the wheel hub has been eliminated. It is no longer possible to remove the axle shaft without tools.

The modification to the splines also requires a new method of tightening the 12-point axle nut.

The new wheel hubs are supplied as replacement parts. When these new hubs are used, no locking fluid is necessary.

CAUTION!

If a vehicle has to be moved on wheels after removing the axle shaft, install an outer CV joint and tighten to 50 Nm (37 ft.lb) or damage to the wheel
bearing may result.

Lift vehicle until load on front axle is relieved.

Loosen and remove 12-point axle nut.

Disconnect axle shaft from transmission drive flange.
