Drive Axle with Constant Velocity Joint VL 100 Assembly Overview
1- Outer constant velocity joint
^
Replace only as complete unit
2- Bolt
^
M16 x 1.5 x 80
^
Hex head bolt = 200 Nm plus an additional 180° turn
^
12-point bolt = 70 Nm plus an additional 90° turn
^
Always replace after removal
^
Vehicle must not stand on wheels when loosening and tightening
3- Right drive axle
4- Clamp
^
Always replace after removal
5- Protective boot
6- Clamp
^
Always replace after removal
7- Dished washer
8- Thrust washer
9- Securing ring
^
Always replace after removal
10- CV boot
^
Before mounting onto constant velocity joint, coat sealing surface using D 454 300 A2
11- Clamp
^
Always replace after removal
12- Left drive axle
13- Backing plate
^
Always replace after removal
14- Socket head bolt
^
First pre-tighten to 10 Nm in a diagonal sequence, then tighten to tightening torque in a diagonal sequence
^
M8 bolt = 40 Nm
^
M10 bolt = 70 Nm
^
Always replace after removal
15- Securing ring
