Bevel Box Gear Oil, Checking and Filling

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

‹› Torque Wrench (5-50 Nm) (V.A.G 1331)

‹› Charging Device F/Haldex 2 Coup. (VAS 6291)

‹› Adapter for Oil Filling (VAS 6291/2)

‹› Drip Tray for VAS 6100 (VAS 6208)

The bevel box is attached to the side of the transmission and has it own oil system.

Checking

Requirements

‹› Bevel box must be in the installed location.

-

Remove the noise insulation.

-

Place the (VAS 6208) underneath.

‹› Cover the area below the oil fill plug - arrow - with a cloth.

-

Remove the oil fill plug - arrow - from the bevel box.

The oil fill plug - arrow - must be replaced.

Oil level is correct if the bevel box is filled with oil as far as the bottom edge of the oil fill plug hole.

If oil comes in contact with bevel box, carefully clean it up.

Add oil if necessary.

-

Install a new oil fill plug - arrow -.

-

Tighten the plug to specification.
