Test sequence

Remove fuse No. 32 from fuse holder.

Note:  Removing fuse No. 32 interrupts the voltage supply to the injectors.

Remove engine cover.

^

Loosen coolant expansion tank and place to one side.

^

Remove air cleaner upper part.

^

Remove intake manifold side parts.

^

Disconnect all 4-pin connectors from ignition coils.

Note:  Before disconnecting the connector, mark the component to which it belongs.

^

Remove ignition coils with output stages using puller T10094.

CAUTION:  Use of tool T10094 is required to avoid damaging these sensitive components.

^

Remove spark plugs with spark plug socket and extension 3122B.

^

Check compression pressure with compression tester VAG 1763.

Note:  Using the compression tester, Refer to Operating instructions.

^

Operate starter until tester shows no further pressure Increase.

Compression pressure: 

New: 10... 13 bar 
Wear limit: 9 bar 
Permissible difference between all cylinders: 3 bar

Check fault memory, if necessary, repair any malfunctions and then erase fault memory.
