Check wires between test box and 4-pin connector to Engine Control

Module (ECM) for open circuit according to wiring diagram.
Wire resistance: max: 1.5 Ohms

Vehicles with engine code AHA

Vehicles with engine code ATQ

Continuation for all vehicles

-

Also check wires for short circuit to B+ or Ground (GND).
Specified value: Infinity Ohms

-

Check wire between 4-pin connector terminal 1 and Fuel Pump (FP) Relay -J17- for open circuit according to wiring diagram.
Wire resistance: max: 1.5 Ohms

If no malfunctions are found in wires:

-

Replace Motronic Engine Control Module (ECM) -J220-.

With Manufacturer's Scan Tool

Oxygen Sensor (O2S) heater before TWC, checking

Special tools and equipment

-

VAG1551 or VAG1552 Scan Tool (ST) with VAG1551/3 adapter cable

-

VAG1598/22 test box

-

Multimeter US1119 (Fluke 83 or equivalent)

-

VW1594 connector test kit

-
