Fuel pump check-valve, checking
Test requirements
^
VAG 1348/3A remote control connected
^
VAG 1318 pressure gauge connected to hose on fuel supply line.
Test sequence
Note: With this check the fuel supply line connections from the fuel pump module to the point at which the VAG 1318 pressure gauge is connected
will be checked for leaks at the same time.
-
Close pressure gauge cut-off tap (lever at right angles to flow direction - position -B-).
-
Operate remote control at short intervals, until pressure of approx. 4 bar (59 psi) has built-up.
-
If pressure builds up too high, release excess pressure by carefully opening cut-off tap.
WARNING:
^
Danger of spray when opening the cut-off tap, hold container over the pressure gauge free connection.
^
Fire hazard. Do not smoke, work near heaters or have anything in the area that could ignite the fuel or fumes.
-
Watch pressure drop on gauge.
After 10 minutes the pressure must not drop below:
Engine cold: 2.2 bar (32 psi)
Engine warm: 3.0 bar (44 psi)
If the pressure drops further:
-
Check line connections for leaks.
If no wiring malfunction is detected:
-
Fuel pump faulty, replace fuel pump module.
