Test procedure:

Switch ignition OFF, disconnect multi-pin harness connector in direction of arrow, and remove from Transmission Control Module (TCM) -J217-.

-

Connect multi-pin harness connector to VAG 1598/20 test box (arrow -1-) by swinging in (arrow -2-) and then lock (arrow -3-).

-

Using the VAG 1598/18 test box, the wiring can be checked according to the wiring diagram.

After electrical checks:
-

Connect multi-pin harness connector to Transmission Control Module (TCM) -J217- harness connector housing -1- by swinging in -2- and then
lock -3-.

2 - Bus driver
3 - Motronic Engine Control Module (ECM) -J220-
4 - Bus driver
5 - Matching resistor
6 - CAN-bus drive (CAN-bus: two wires twisted together)
7 - Matching resistor
8 - Bus driver
9 - ABS control module (w/EDL) -J104-
