Remove rear final drive bearing bracket securing bolts (arrows).

-

Carefully lower rear final drive until flange is accessible.

-

Mark position of pinion securing nut with paint.

Determining dimensions -a- and -b-
a - Distance of flange to pinion
b - Distance of flange to pinion securing nut
-

Note measurements.

-

Install 3028 retainer and screw on securing nut for pinion.

Note:  Reuse original nut to secure flange to pinion. Otherwise the original installation position cannot be determined again.

-

Pull off flange using VW391 puller.

-

Install two bolts -A- (M8 x 30) into flange.

-

Place drip tray underneath.
