Fuel Injectors, Servicing

FUEL INJECTORS, SERVICING

CAUTION!  Fire hazard. Do NOT smoke or have anything in the area that can ignite Diesel fuel!

This engine is equipped with dual spring fuel injectors. By design, fuel injection occurs in 2 stages. If malfunctions occur with these injectors, they must
be replaced because neither servicing nor pressure adjustment is possible.

Opening pressure, checking

CAUTION!  When testing fuel injectors, ensure that the fuel spray does not contact the hands because the high pressure fuel stream could
penetrate the skin causing severe injuries.

-

Pressure gauge installed

-

Move pump lever down slowly. When spraying begins, read the opening pressure. If the reading deviates from the specification; replace that fuel
injector
Specification:
new fuel injectors: 150-158 bar
Wear limit: 140 bar

Leak-checking

CAUTION!  Fire hazard. Do NOT smoke or have anything in the area that can ignite Diesel fuel!

-

Pressure gauge installed

-

Move pump lever down slowly while maintaining a pressure of approx. 110 bar for 10 seconds.
No fuel should leak from the nozzle tip.

-

If fuel injector leaks; replace.
