Oil Pressure Sender: Testing and Inspection
SPECIAL TOOLS
^
Oil pressure tester tool No. VAG 1342, or equivalent.

LED Tester tool No. VAG 1527B, or equivalent.
^
Adaptor kit tool No. VW 1594, or equivalent.
TEST SEQUENCE
1. Remove 0.3 bar (4.35 psi) oil pressure switch -F22- (blue insulation) and screw into tester.
2. Screw tester into the cylinder head in place of the oil pressure switch.
3. Connect brown wire -3- of tester to ground.
4. Connect LED tester to battery positive and to 0.3 bar (4.35 psi) oil pressure switch -A- using jumper wires from adaptor kit.
5. LED tester must light up.
6. Start engine and slowly raise engine rpm until oil pressure reaches 0.15-0.35 bar (2.25-5.00).
7. LED tester must go out.

If not to specifications, replace oil pressure switch.
8. Connect LED tester to oil pressure switch -B- when oil pressure reaches: 0.75-1.05 bar (10.90-15.20 psi).
9. LED tester must light up.

If not to specifications, replace oil pressure switch -F1-.
10. Increase engine speed until it reaches 2000 rpm, and a minimum oil temperature of 80°C (176°F).
11. Oil pressure must be 2.0 bar (29.0 psi).
12. At higher engine speeds, oil pressure must not exceed 7.0 bar (102 psi).

If not to specifications, replace oil pump cover complete with pressure relief valve, if necessary.
