Determining shim -A-

Install all components (items 2 thru 17) to adjust planet carrier in transmission housing.

Engage parking lock.

Insert screwdriver through hole of "large sun gear" to loosen and tighten "bolt for small axle shaft".

Install bolt -1- small input shaft with washer -2- but without shim -3-. Tightening torque: 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs.).

Set up dial indicator so top of gauge is positioned on bolt head center with 1 mm (0.0393 inch) preload.

Zero dial indicator.

-

Move small input shaft up and take reading.
Example: Reading 2 mm (0.0787 inch)

Determine shim thickness according to table and part number from parts catalog.
