NOTE:  Do not allow caliper to hang from brake hose.

4. Remove brake pads.
5. Disconnect fluid line, cap and plug lines and fittings.

Installation 

CAUTION:

Always remove some brake fluid from the reservoir before installing new brake pads.

When the caliper piston is pushed back, fluid is forced out of the caliper and into the reservoir.

After pads are installed, refill the reservoir only to the MAX mark.

Pushing In Piston

1. Ensure piston is fully seated as follows:

a. Insert piston compressor tool No. 3272, or equivalent so that the tool collar (left arrow) is seated against caliper.
b. Push piston in by turning knurled wheel of tool clockwise.

NOTE:

If the piston is difficult to move, use a 13 mm open-end wrench on tool flats (arrow A).

If the piston is pushed back with a piston resetting tool or by operating the brake pedal the automatic adjustment mechanism in the brake
caliper will be destroyed.

2. Position brake pads into brake carrier (17) brake pads.
3. Connect fluid line to caliper.

4. Install brake caliper housing with new self-locking bolts.
5. Connect parking brake cable.
6. Bleed brake system.
6. Depress brake pedal firmly several times, with the vehicle stationary, to seat brake pads in their normal operating position.
7. Check brake fluid level in the reservoir and add fluid as necessary.
8. Adjust parking brake. See: Parking Brake System/Adjustments
