Connect vehicle battery.

Side Curtain Airbag through October 2009

‹› Removal and installation is described for the right side of the vehicle. Removing and installing on the left side is identical.

Removal

CAUTION!
‹› Read the Safety Instructions for working with airbags, belt tensioners and battery cut-out units.

‹› Pay attention especially to the instructions for side airbag modules. 

Vehicles with sunroof:

-

Open sunroof.

-

Switch off ignition.

-

Remove the front and rear interior and reading lamps in the headliner.

Remove storage compartment with console in headliner. Refer to => [ Storage Compartment with Console in Headliner ] See: Body and

Remove upper trim on A-pillars. Refer to => [ Upper A-Pillar Trim ] See: Body and Frame/Interior Moulding / Trim/Trim Panel/Service and

Remove sun visors.

Remove roof grab handle

-

Remove upper B-pillar trim. Refer to => [ Upper B-Pillar Trim ] See: Body and Frame/Interior Moulding / Trim/Trim Panel/Service and

Remove trim on C-pillars, wagon. Refer to => [ C-Pillar Trim ] See: Body and Frame/Interior Moulding / Trim/Trim Panel/Service and
Repair/Pillar Trim

Remove roof end strip, wagon. Refer to => [ Roof End Strip ] See: Body and Frame/Interior Moulding / Trim/Headliner/Service and Repair

Vehicles with rear side-airbag:

Disconnect vehicle battery.

All vehicles:

-

Remove lock carrier cover (wagon). Refer to => [ Lock Carrier Cover ] See: Body and Frame/Interior Moulding / Trim/Trim Panel/Service and
Repair/Luggage Compartment Trim

Fold left bench seat and its backrest forward.

Remove side upholstery:
