Hydraulic Control Assembly - Antilock Brakes: Technician Safety Information
ABS hydraulic modulator assembly, repairing
The following components of the ABS hydraulic modulator assembly can be replaced:
^ hydraulic modulator
^ reservoir
^ pressure-warning switch
^ pressure accumulator
^ pump subassembly
Before the hydraulic modulator assembly is removed, check the following:
^ pump assembly and pressure warning switch
To check: reduce pressure in accumulator, turn ignition on, pump must start running and shut off after a maximum of 60 seconds, depress brake
pedal 2 or 3 times: pump must start running again.
Note: If the ABS indicator light stays lit, the ABS system must be checked.
WARNING! The ABS modulator assembly is capable of "self-pressurizing" up to 210 bar (3045 psi) Serious injury may result if you
service the unit without properly depressurizing it. Depress brake pedal 25 to 35 times with ignition switch in OFF position, to
depressurize system.
