Interrogating fault memory

Note:

The vehicle system tester V.A.G 1552 can be used instead of the fault reader V.A.G 1551, however a print-out is not possible.

  • ‒ Connecting fault reader .
  • ‒ Switch on printer with Print button (warning lamp in button lights up).
 
→ Indicated on display:
Rapid data transfer     HELP
Select function XX
  • ‒ Press keys -0- and -2- (the function "Interrogate fault memory" is entered with 02).
 
→ Indicated on display:
Rapid data transfer     Q

  • ‒ Press Print key
  • ‒ Confirm entry with the Q key.
 
→ The number of stored faults appears in the display.
X faults recognized!    

The stored faults are displayed and printed out one after the other.

Note:

If a fault is recognised:

  • ◆ . Rectify fault
  • ◆ 2. Erase fault memory (function 05).
  • ◆ 3. Interrogate fault memory again (function 02).
  • ‒ The faults printed out can be rectified with aid of fault table => from page 01-115 .
  • ‒ The function "Read measured value block" => Page 01-128 are additional aids.

The measured value block is divided into 17 display group numbers. But only the measured value blocks described in the Workshop Manual are of importance. The assignment of the individual display zones can be taken from the display group overview from Page 01-128 .

 
If "No fault recognised" is displayed the programme will return to the initial position after pressing the ⇒ key.

  • ‒ Press keys -0- and -6- to end the output.

  • ‒ Confirm entry with the Q key.

Enter address word XX
  • ‒ Switch off ignition.
  • ‒ Disconnect connector to fault reader V.A.G 1551.
