| The Climatronic control unit -J255- is located behind the control and display unit for Climatronic air conditioning -E87-. The two components are a single part which cannot be dismantled. So that the problem source can be quickly found when a component fails or there is an open circuit, the Climatronic control unit -J255- is equipped with a fault memory which can be read using the vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system -VAS 5051A- or the vehicle diagnosis and service information system -VAS 5052-. |

| If a fault having a permanent effect on the operation of the Climatronic is stored to memory, the display of the operating and display unit for Climatronic air conditioning -E87- on Climatronic control unit -J255- flashes for approx. 15 seconds when the ignition is switched on. In the case of all faults, the Climatronic control unit -J255- can continue operation at the selected settings in emergency mode. |
