Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Puller (e.g. Kukko 204/2, commercially available)
Removing:
  Note
t  To disconnect and reconnect the battery, the procedure described in the workshop manual should be strictly adhered to → Chapter.
t  If the vehicle has a radio with anti-theft coding, obtain code from customer before disconnecting battery.
t  When the battery is reconnected, check operation of vehicle electrical equipment (radio, clock and electric windows etc.) according to Workshop Manual or Owner's Manual.
–  Disconnect battery → Chapter.
–  Remove steering column switch → Chapter.
   
–  Remove bolt -1- and take off cover -2-.
–  Remove bolts -arrows- from driver side storage compartment -3-.
–  Take out driver side storage compartment -3-.
–  Pull multi-pin connector off ignition/starter switch.

–  Unscrew Torx bolts -1- and remove cable duct cover -2-.
–  Carefully pull immobilizer reader coil connector off immobilizer control unit.
Vehicles with automatic gearbox
  N94-0437
–  Pull clip off and unclip locking cable for ignition key removal lock.
Continuation for all vehicles:
  V37-1101
–  Drill out shear-head bolt -1- or chisel off if necessary.
  WARNING
Wear safety goggles.
  N94-0236
–  Pull off multi-point adapter sleeve with commercially available puller -1- (e.g. Kukko 204/2).
–  Pull steering lock housing and spring off column tube and steering column.
Installing:
–  Push steering lock housing and spring onto steering column (note fitted position) and loosely screw in shear-head bolt.
–  Remove ignition key and engage steering lock.

–  Place multi-point adapter on steering column and screw hexagon nut onto steering column.
–  Tighten hexagon nut on steering column.
–  Remove nut again.
–  Connect multi-pin connector to ignition/starter switch.
–  Tighten shear-head bolt for steering lock housing until head shears off.
Vehicles with automatic gearbox:
  N48-0136
–  Fit locking cable clip onto locking cable.
–  Press locking cable onto ball head.
–  Press locking cable with clip into ignition switch cable support bracket.
Continuation for all vehicles:
–  Install steering column switch → Chapter.
–  Install driver side storage compartment.
