| Data can be exchanged between the powertrain data bus and the diagnosis wire (K-wire) via the data bus diagnostic interface -J533- in the dash panel insert. |
Note | The data bus diagnostic interface -J533- in the new (replacement) dash panel insert must be re-coded in all cases, even if the correct code number has already been saved → Chapter. |
| The dash panel insert is controlled via a microprocessor which is equipped with an extensive self-diagnosis functionality. |
| If faults occur in the sensors and components being monitored, they will be stored in the fault memory together with an indication of the type of fault. |
| The self-diagnosis must be initiated at the start of fault finding and the stored information read. The fault information displayed is used in conjunction with a fault table which has information on the possible fault causes for pin-pointed repair measures → Chapter. |
