Reposition the brake > < Rear wheel drum brake - repair

Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  "Torque wrench - 5 to 50 Nm (enc. 1/2")" -VAG 1331-
t  "Torque wrench - 40 to 200 Nm (enc. 1/2")" - VAG 1332-
t  Torque wrench - 4 to 20Nm (enc. 3/8") -VAG 1410 -
t  Brake pedal pressing device -VAG 1869/2-

  Note
t  After replacing the wheel brake cylinder, the brake support and the brake shoe, strongly press the brake pedal once so that the brake shoes are properly seated.
t  To aspirate the brake fluid from the brake fluid reservoir, use the Brake filling and bleeding equipment -VAS 5234- or Accessory set for bleeder -V.A.G 1869/4-.
t  Before removing a cylinder, brake support, or disconnecting a brake tube from the brake cylinder, install the Brake pedal pressing device -VAG 1869/2 -.
  WARNING
Always replace self-locking nuts and screws subject to angular torque
   
1 - Axle body
2 - Internal hex head screw
q   8 Nm
3 - ABS speed sensor
q   before inserting the sensor, you must clean the internal hole surface and coat with Lubricating putty -G 000 650-. Refer to the → Chemicals Manual
4 - Brake tube
5 - Axle end
6 - Handbrake cable
q   adjust the handbrake → Chapter
7 - Hexagonal head screw
q   60 Nm
q   with dish spring
8 - Screw
9 - Brake drum
q   Brake drum diameter: 200 mm
q   Wear limit: 201.5 mm
q   before removing the brake drum, pull the brake back → Chapter
q   Clean carefully and check for eventual wear, damages, dimensional accuracy and undamaged braking surface
10 - Cap
q   remove and install → Running gear, axles, steering; Rep. Gr.42.
11 - Self-locking grooved nut
q   70 Nm + 30°
q   replace
12 - Wheel hub with wheel roller bearing and rotor
q   remove and install → Running gear, axles, steering; Rep. Gr.42.
13 - Caliper body with brake shoes
q   before removing the brake drum, pull the brake back → Chapter
