Measure current consumption of fuel pump > < Checking conditions

Check operation and tension supply
Check operation and tension supply
–  Fold backseat.
–  Remove cover below seat.
–  Turn ignition on. Fuel pump must start working and make audible sound.
–  Turn ignition off
If fuel pump does not work:
–  Disconnect flange 4-pin connector from fuel pump unit.
   
–  Connect Voltmeter -V.A.G 1527/B- with Measuring appliance set -V.A.G 1594/C- to connector external pins.
–  Turn ignition on Diode lamp must remain on for about 2 seconds.
If diode lamp does not turn on:
–  Check fuel pump relay activation and interruptoin or short circuits of harnesses. → Electric systems folder, failure location with VAS 5051
Diode lamp turns on (tension supply OK):
–  Remove fuel pump unit → Chapter.
–  Check if wiring harnesses between flange and fuel pump are connected and if current is passing through.
If there is no wiring harness interruption:
–  Replace fuel pump unit → Chapter.
