Checking conditions:
Checking conditions:
l  Poly-V belt/Poly-V belt voltage OK
l  System tightness ok
l  Flexible tubes/pipes not bent and/or pressed.
–  Close the cutoff valve (not longer than 5 seconds) during the engine idling and read pressure.
Nominal value:
l  Hydraulic pump -5Z0 422 154- with nominal value of 100 ± 5 bar
l  Hydraulic pump -1J0 422 154 A- with nominal value of 100 ± 4 bar
l  Hydraulic pump -2K0 422 154- with nominal value of 104 ± 4 bar
l  Hydraulic pump -2K0 422 154 A- with nominal value of 104 ± 4 bar
  Note
t  Replace the pump if the nominal value is not reached or is exceeded:
t  Remove and install the hydraulic pump, Vehicles with hydraulic pump on the lower part → Chapter.
t  Remove and install the hydraulic pump. Vehicles with hydraulic pump installed on the upper section → Chapter.
t  Check the steering system for tightness if there is lack of oil in the reservoir.
t  Check the tubes/piping connections for tightness; if necessary, close and dry.
t  Replace the steering box if the pinion or gear rack seal on the steering box is leaking.
t  To check the gear rack seal, open the protective bellows piping clamp and push the protective bellows aside.
