Removing and installing airbag control unitJ234
Removing and installing airbag control unit -J234-
  WARNING
When working on airbag control unit -J234-, observe the general safety regulations for work on airbag, belt tensioner and battery isolator units (pyrotechnic components) → Chapter.
Removing
–  Remove centre console:
t  Without arm rest → Chapter.
t  With arm rest → Chapter.
–  Switch ignition on.
–  Disconnect vehicle battery → Electrical system; Rep. gr.27.
   
–  From front passenger side footwell, release connector locking mechanism -1-.
–  Separate connector from control unit.

–  Unscrew 3 nuts -1- (9 Nm).

For reasons of clarity, some surrounding components are not or only partly shown in the illustration.
–  Remove control unit from vehicle.
Installing
–  Install in reverse order of removal.
–  Switch ignition on.
  WARNING
Ensure that nobody is in vehicle.
–  Reconnect vehicle battery → Electrical system; Rep. gr.27.
–  If control unit was renewed, it must be coded. Adapting components (coding) → Chapter.
