Removing
  Note
Removal and installation are described for the left vehicle side. Follow same instructions for the right side as appropriate.
  WARNING
t  Observe the general safety regulations when working on airbag, belt tensioner and battery isolator units (pyrotechnic components) → Chapter
t  Follow the special instructions for belt tensioners → Chapter.
–  Switch ignition on.
–  Disconnect vehicle battery → Electrical system; Rep. gr.27.
–  Remove bench seat → Chapter.
–  Release sill moulding from fasteners in sill at transition to side panel.
–  Remove side trim → Chapter.
–  Releasing upper B-pillar trims (2-door models) → Chapter.
   
–  Unscrew bolt -1- (40 Nm) and remove belt guide fitting -2- from belt height adjuster.

–  Pull belt guide -1- out of tab -2-.
–  Thread belt -3- out of belt guide.
  WARNING
When installing, belt guide -1- must audibly engage in tab -2-!

  WARNING
Electrostatic discharges may result in unintentional triggering of belt tensioner. Therefore, the mechanic must electrostatically discharge him/herself before disconnecting the igniter and earth wires. This can be done by briefly touching the body or striker plate of the door.
–  Separate connector from belt inertia reel.
–  Unscrew bolt -1- (40 Nm) and remove belt inertia reel -2- from B-pillar.

   
–  Unscrew bolt -2- (20 Nm) and pull belt loop off belt anchor rail -1-.
Installing
Install in reverse order of removal.
–  Reconnect vehicle battery → Electrical system; Rep. gr.27.
