t  Torque wrench (40…200 Nm) -V.A.G 1332-
t  Torque wrench (5…50 Nm) -V.A.G 1331-
t  Hose clip pliers -VAS 6340-
t  Counterhold tool -3036-
t  Counterhold tool -3415-
t  Pins -3415/1-
t  Locking pins -T10120-
t  Locking pins -T10121-

Procedure
  W00-1233
–  Fit support bracket -10 - 222 A- with rack -10 - 222 A /1- as shown.
–  Remove poly V-belt → Chapter.
  Caution
Nut -2- must not be loosened.
  N15-0613
–  Unscrew securing bolts -arrows- for engine mounting.
–  Remove complete engine mounting.
Loosen or separate the following components:
t  Coolant pump pulley
t  Tensioning element/belt drive
t  Tensioning roller
t  Alternator
t  Air conditioner compressor
t  Crankshaft pulley
t  Oil level and oil temperature sender -G266-
t  Oil dipstick
t  Oil sump
t  Control housing/chain drive
–  Tighten crankshaft V-belt pulley securing bolt into crankshaft to stop.

–  Turn crankshaft by pulley securing bolt in engine direction of rotation until groove in camshaft appears in Hall sender hole.

–  Locking pin -T10120- must be easily insertable into camshaft.

–  Loosen securing bolt for camshaft toothed belt pulley (use counterhold -3036-).

–  Turn crankshaft by pulley securing bolt in direction of engine rotation until locking pin -T10121- can be inserted into flywheel.
  N15-0598
–  Tighten securing bolt -2- for camshaft sprocket -1- to 20 Nm (using counter-hold tool -3036-).
–  Then turn bolt 1/4 turn (90°) further using a rigid wrench.
–  Remove both locking pins from camshaft and flywheel.
–  Turn crankshaft two full turns in direction of engine rotation and check valve timing again → Chapter.
Further assembly is basically the reverse of the dismantling sequence.
