Test prerequisites
l  Battery voltage at least 12.5 V
l  Fuel filter OK.
l  Fuel tank at least 1/2 full.
l  Ignition switched off
Checking fuel delivery rate
–  Remove engine cover panel → Chapter.
  WARNING
t  Always read rules for cleanliness and instructions for working on fuel system → Chapter.
t  Always follow these rules for cleanliness and instructions before starting work and while working on the fuel system.
t  Wrap a clean cloth around the connection before opening the fuel system, then carefully loosen the connection to release the pressure.
   
–  Pull fuel supply line -arrow- off the high-pressure pump.

–  Hold fuel supply line -1- in a measuring vessel -3- (extend with a suitable hose -2-).
–  Connect vehicle diagnosis tester.
–  Switch on ignition.
–  Select „Engine electronics“ in the self-diagnosis program.
–  Then select „Basic setting“.
–  Select „Testing fuel pre-supply pump“ from selection list.
–  The fuel pump starts up.
–  Allow fuel pump to run for 30 seconds and end activation.
l  Specified minimum delivery rate in 30 seconds: at least 600 ml
If minimum delivery rate is not reached, check for the following causes:
t  30 seconds not reached
t  Battery voltage below 12.5 V (connect charger)
t  Fuel lines have been crushed
t  Fuel filter is blocked
t  Fuel pump defective: test → Chapter, → Chapter

Check fuel system for leaks.
