Removing and installing battery, vehicles with starter battery in luggage compartment

Special tools and workshop equipment required

t	Torque wrench -V.A.G 1331-

Removing:

–	Switch off ignition and all electrical consumers.

–	Disconnect battery → Chapter.

–	Pull central gas vent hose -1- out of battery -2-.

–	Remove positive terminal cover -1-.

–	Undo positive terminal -A- and remove from battery -3-.

–	Undo bolt -1-, remove retaining plate -2- and take battery -3- out of wheel recess.

Installing:

Installation is carried out in the reverse order. When installing observe the following:
