Vehicles with 6-speed automatic gearbox 09G Special tools and workshop equipment required

t  Torque wrench -V.A.G 1331-

t  Torque wrench -V.A.G 1332- Removing: –  Remove battery → Chapter.

–  Remove battery tray. To do this, loosen bolts -arrows- (15 Nm) and remove battery tray. –  Remove noise insulation → General body repairs, exterior; Rep. gr.50.

–  Unscrew securing nut -1- from bottom starter securing bolt. –  Remove cable retainer -2-.

–  Remove bottom starter securing bolt -arrow-.

–  Unlock connector -1- of terminal 50 and disconnect. –  Pull off plastic cap -2-.

–  Unscrew securing nut -1- and remove cable -2- from solenoid switch terminal 30. –  Unscrew securing nut -3- from top starter securing bolt. –  Remove earth cable -4- and unscrew top starter securing bolt located behind it. –  Remove starter upwards from vehicle. Installing: Install in the reverse order of removal. When doing this, note the following: –  Tighten all threaded connections to specified torques → Chapter.
