Ball Joint: Service and Repair
Ball Joint, Upper
1.
Raise and support vehicle, then remove front wheel.
2.
Scribe mark where ball joint flange meets lower control arm to aid installation.
3.
Remove ball joint to wheel bearing housing clamp bolt, then separate ball joint from wheel bearing housing.
4.
Disconnect stabilizer bar from lower control arm.
5.
Remove ball joint to lower control arm retaining bolts and the ball joint.
6.
Install new ball joint to control arm, align scribe mark and torque retaining bolts to 47 ft. lbs.
7.
Reverse procedure to complete installation.
