Compression Check: Testing and Inspection

Compression, Checking

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Spark plug removal tool 3122 B

^

Puller T10095 A

^

Assembly tool T10118

^

Torque wrench V.A.G 1331

^

Compression tester V.A.G 1763

Test Conditions 

^

Engine oil temperature at least 30° C

^

The battery voltage must be at least 11.5 Volts.

Test Sequence

-

Place the assembly tool T10118 on the release button - arrow -, release the connector retainers, and carefully remove the connectors from ignition
coils 1 through 6.

-

From straight side of connector, push puller T10095 A on in - direction of arrow -, and remove ignition coil with power output stage.

-

Remove fuse SC 27 from fuse holder.

By removing fuse SC 27, voltage supply to fuel pump relay is interrupted.

-

Remove spark plugs with spark plug removal tool 3122 B.

-

Check compression pressure using the compression tester V.A.G 1763.

Note:

Follow tester operating instructions.

-

Operate starter until tester shows no further pressure increase.

Compression pressure:
