Pry the protective housing upward using screwdriver - A - and pull it off sideways from retaining plate - arrow -.

Disconnect the forward electrical harness connector - 1 - from Engine Control Module (ECM).

Pry up locking mechanism - 2 - slightly.

-

Slide the Engine Control Module (ECM) out of retainer - arrow -.

-

Disconnect the rear harness connector from Engine Control Module (ECM). 

Engine Control Module (ECM) J623 installation

Installation is performed in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

The Engine Control Module (ECM) J623 must be installed with the protective housing.

Use New shear bolts when installing the Engine Control Module (ECM) J623.

Engine Control Module (ECM) J623 reprogramming

The new Engine Control Module (ECM) J623 and immobilizer must be activated.

Final procedures

After repair work, the following work steps must be performed in the following sequence:

1. Check the DTC memory.
2. If necessary, erase the DTC memory.
3. If the DTC memory was erased, generate readiness code.
