Axle Beam: Service and Repair

Rear Axle (Rabbit, Aluminum Subframe)

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Torque Wrench V.A.G 1332

^

Engine/transmission jack V.A.G 1383 A

Subframe with components, removing

Note: Be aware that if there is additional work where the drive shaft 6-point or 12-point bolt must be loosened, this must also occur with the vehicle
resting on its wheels. Remove the drive axle 6-point or 12-point bolt.

Remove wheels.

Disconnect electrical connections between rear axle and body.

-

Remove bolt -arrow-.

-

Pry off securing clip -1- for brake cable.

-

Press lever -2- in direction of -arrow- thereby disengaging hand brake cable -3-.

-

Remove bolt -1- and remove parking brake cable -2- from brake cable bracket.
