Clutch Slave Cylinder: Service and Repair

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Torque wrench V.A.G 1331
Removing
-
First check whether a coded radio is installed. In this case, find out anti-theft coding.

Disconnect battery ground (GND) strap with ignition switched off.

Remove entire air filter housing if slave cylinder is not accessible through it.
-
Remove lock washer -arrow 1- for shift cable from transmission shift lever -A-.

Remove the shift cable from the pins
Metal Relay Lever
-
Remove lock washer -arrow 2- for selector cable from relay lever -B-.
-
Remove the selector cable from the pins.

Pull off locking washer -arrow 3- from relay lever -B- and remove relay lever.
Plastic Relay Lever

Remove the relay lever together with the cable retainer from the transmission.
Continuation for All

Remove transmission shift lever -A-, by unscrewing nut -arrow 4-.

Remove cable mounting bracket bolts -arrows- from transmission.

Then tie the shift cable and selector cable up.

Remove the bracket -B- from the transmission and pull it off from the hose/line assembly -A-.
