Warm Up Regulator: Testing and Inspection

COLD ENGINE PRESSURE TEST
1.
Place valve on pressure gauge in open position.
2.
Disconnect the electrical connector from the control pressure regulator.
3.
Place the fuel supply circuit under pressure by bypassing the fuel pump relay.
4.
Make sure that the cold engine control pressure ranges fall within the specifications shown, Fig. 2.
NOTE: If the control pressure regulator incorporates an altitude corrector (identifiable by vacuum lines or open ports in the regulator body),
take this into account when reading the test pressures. Temperatures given represent ambient air temp.
5.
If the pressure tested is incorrect, retest with a new control pressure regulator.
WARM UP TEST
1.
Connect the vehicle harness connector to the control pressure regulator.
2.
Energize the fuel pump by bypassing the fuel pump relay; after 5 minutes, the control pressure should be 3.4 - 3.8 bar (49 - 55 psi). Shut off the
fuel pump.
3.
If these values are not obtained check for power at the connector.
4.
If there is current at the plug, replace the control pressure regulator.
5.
If the rise in pressure occurs too rapidly, replace the control pressure regulator.
