Install remaining bearing caps. Torque specification: 5 Nm plus an additional 1/4 turn (90°)

Replace camshaft seals --> [ Camshaft Seals, Replacing ] See: Seals and Gaskets/Camshaft Oil Seal/Service and Repair.

Replace seals for Camshaft Position (CMP) Sensor --> [ Camshaft Position Sensor Seals, Replacing ] See: Powertrain Management/Computers
and Control Systems/Camshaft Position Sensor/Service and Repair.

Carefully drive in sealing cover --> [ (Item 9) Sealing cap ] See: Cylinder Head Assembly/Service and Repair/Valvetrain, Assembly Overview
using pressure piece of retractor (3202).

The rest of assembly is in reverse order of disassembling.

‹› After installing the camshafts, the engine may not be started for approx. 30 minutes. Hydraulic equalization elements must seat themselves.

(Otherwise the valves will crash into the pistons).

‹› After working on the valvetrain and lifters, carefully rotate the crankshaft by hand at least 2 full revolutions before starting to be sure that valves

do not strike the pistons.

Lightly coat separation surfaces of front and rear bearing caps with grease (AMV 188 001 02) before installing
